Usain Bolt breaks the world record and sets a new world record Usain Bolt (born 21 August 1986) is a Jamaican sprinter.[1] He is the reigning Olympic champion over 100 metres and holds both world and Olympic 100 metres records with a time of 9.69 seconds. Bolt is also the world junior record holder in the 200 metres (19.93 seconds), and Jamaican national record holder in the 200 metres (19.67 seconds). His name and achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname "Lightning Bolt". Bolt was born in Trelawny, Jamaica,[3] to Jennifer and Wellesley Bolt.[4] As a child he was successful in the annual, national primary schools' meeting for his parish,[2] and enjoyed playing cricket, specialising in fast bowling. Upon his entry to William Knibb Memorial High School, his cricket coach noticed Bolt's speed on the pitch and urged him to try track and field events.[5] Pablo mcneil and Dwayne Barrett coached Bolt, encouraging him to focus his energy on improving his athletic abilities. The school had a history of athletic success with past students including Michael Green.[2] Bolt won his first annual high school championships medal in 2001, attaining the silver medal in the 200 metres with a time of 22.04 seconds.[2] Performing in his first Caribbean national event, Bolt clocked a personal best of 48.28 seconds in the 400 metres in the 2001 CARIFTA games, earning himself a silver medal.[6] The 200 metres also yielded a silver as Bolt finished in 21.81 seconds. Zone defense myth vs Jordan era defenses explained click this link: bruceblitz.proboards.com Michael Jordan faced the most traps & double/triple teams in NBA history, MJ also DEFEATED the most traps, double teams, and triple teams in NBA history. Unlike other players presented with a double team, Jordan shows his ultimate team IQ by giving up the ball and re-establishing himself for a better shot. Jordan could score over anyone and any type of defense. As long as Jordan had his dribble, you virtually almost could not ever trap him. He was too fast. Jordan would either make a move to defeat the trap, or get the ball out of there to an open teammate swiftly. Jordan's decisionmaking can be seen in this video like no other video. Zones allow defenders to play an area, rather than stick to a man. I don't know about you, but I prefer playing against a zone because it is so much easier to find space in a zone if you are good at working without the ball. When you are facing man to man it requires that you run your defender into screens, and it requires more effort to create space. This was especially true in the Michael Jordan era where perimeter contact was allowed. The Jordan era featured man to man with rotating traps and weakside help which is very hard to defeat as an individual player. The NBA created the defensive 3 second rule & it opened up the lane like never before, you see layups now in the half court set more often than ever before. You would think these guys were ... Shaq attacked, Kobe bounced back and the Los Angeles Lakers got on track. The Lakers responded like defending champions and evened the NBA Finals at one game each with a 98-89 victory over the feisty Philadelphia 76ers. Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant both had huge games for the Lakers, who were stunned in overtime in Game One but found a way to slow down Allen Iverson. They held the league Most Valuable Player to 23 points, 10 off his playoff average and less than half of his 48-point explosion in the opener. O'Neal flirted with the first quadruple-double in Finals history with 28 points, 20 rebounds, nine assists and a record-tying eight blocked shots. Working against Defensive Player of the Year Dikembe Mutombo, he was a one-man wrecking crew in the last five minutes of the third quarter, when the Lakers grabbed control. "Coach wanted to me to protect the basket more," said O'Neal, who tied a record shared by Bill Walton, Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing. "We felt they were getting too many easy shots the first half. So I just tried to step up my defense in the second half." "I thought Shaq was the dramatically better defensive player in this game," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. After a poor performance in Game One, Bryant reminded everyone that he is a superstar, too. He scored 31 points and was extremely aggressive on the offensive end, giving Philadelphia's defense fits. "I was so upset after Game One," Bryant said. "I didn't want to come out and try to do too ... Allen Iverson 2001 NBA Final G |

EXPRESS YOURSELF!!! 7th November 2007 - London 2012 officials have hailed the design for their £496m Olympic Stadium following its unveiling on Wednesday. "No-one can say we've compromised on design, on sustainability or on the legacy potential," said Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell MP. Work on the 80000-seater stadium will begin ahead of schedule in April 2008. Once the Olympics are over, it will be turned into a 25-000-seater community venue and could also become home to a lower-league football or rugby club. Animation of how London's 2012 stadium will look How the site was cleared for the stadium A look at Olympic stadiums past and present Lord Coe, the chairman of the London Organising Committee, told a news conference that the stadium would be a "stadium for a new era". "It's a stadium that delivers on everything we said we would deliver on; a stadium with track and field as its primary legacy; a stadium that will be reduced from 80000 seats in Olympic mode to a 25000-seater community base," he said. Jowell added: "This is a very important Olympic milestone and this stadium is focused very much on legacy and sustainability. "Once the Games are over this will then be translated into a stadium that will not only host grand prix athletics events and other national sport events but will also serve the communities of the boroughs." She also felt the stadium would be a great addition to the capital's sporting facilities. "This augments and complements the other great stadia ... London 2012 Olympic Stadium Un |
