To clear things up, this video is my first attempt at the double back tuck. It was filmed April 2, 2006. Corny as it sounds, I wanted to do something for my 1yr back tuck on floor anniversary, so I decided on a double back. I had done many timers and had prepped it for at least a few months beforehand. This video is my first "all out" attempt at it. I made a total of five attempts that day, finally getting my legs under me on the fifth one. I was afraid, so my set was pretty much nonexistent, save in my shoulders. Note: My trampoline isn't extra bouncy, it does have bigger springs, which help it not bottom out as easy, and it's definitely a lot smoother than other trampolines I've been on. I believe the springs are 12 inch, might be 14s... I'd highly recommend larger springs. It doesn't give much extra height compared to a $200 walmart trampoline, I can get almost as high on a cheap one also. On a full fledge competition trampoline, anyone can easily break the 10ft clearance mark, if not much higher. If you want to go all out, check www.eurotramp.com That's where its at if you really want to get into trampolining... As for my trampoline, I bought it on ebay from Canada if I remember correctly, for a little over USD$600, including shipping to OR, USA. I searched ebay and the makers unfortunately haven't posted anymore for quite a while. Please keep in mind when commenting, I'm not a gymnast, I've had no professional training, I just had a lot of spare time and a backyard ... First ever double backflip att |

Music: Raul Diblasio:: Solo Piano... I want to emphasize the fact that is not my intention to scare anyone into doing gymnastics. More than being scared by these accidents it's important to note their cause: Mukhina's accident was caused by a moved that is banned, Henrich died from anorexia which shows that starving yourself will never be the answer, and in the case of Sang Lan she admitted she got distracted which shows gymnastics has no tolerance for distractions, the world can fall apart but the only thing you must mind as a gymnast is your routine. Now anyone who wants to be an elite must know gymnastics history and these accidents are part of this history, but as I have said more than getting scared by them you must analyse the causes to prevent them from happening to you. Shawn Machel Johnson sprang to life on a very cold day in January. Well, actually, she didn't spring for a little bit. Shawn was born with an APGAR score of 0. It took a short while before she got the hang of things, but once she did get going, she took off and hasn't slowed down since. Shawn walked at 9 months without ever taking the time to crawl. She was doing pull-ups in her playpen and climbing out of her baby bed long before she was a year old. At the age of three Shawn tried dance class, although dance didn't suit her as it wasn't nearly physical enough. Out of desperation, the next attempt to find a release for Shawn's energy was a gymnastics class. BINGO. Shawn enjoyed 2 years at a local gymnastics club. Friends told her parents about a new gym that opened up close to home. After visiting only once, Shawn couldn't wait to get started at Chow's Gymnastics and Dance. Shawn started attending Chow's within 60 days of the doors opening. They had yet to develop a pre-team or team, so Shawn got to be in on the ground floor of their pre-team and then team. Shawn's coaches, Liang Qiao (Chow) and Liwen Zhuang (Li) could not have been a better fit had they been hand picked. Chow and Li will forever hold a very special place in Shawn's heart. Memorable moments in Shawn's gymnastics career have been Level 9 balance beam champion, Level 10 Iowa's Gymnast of the year, Level 10 balance beam champion and making the Junior Olympic National team, and qualifying to Junior ...
